Its been 9 months since I last posted. A lot has changed!
Tippy had a full mouth dental extraction, and now has only his lower canines and incisors. He is doing well now, although it got a bit hairy after his opp.
He had stitches in the right side of his mouth, but the left side was left to heal independently. The day after his op I found a piece of stitch hanging out of his mouth, I cut it off and then took him straight to the vets. They cut off the remaining and gave him another painkiller and antibiotic. Another day past and Tippy came down with a heck of a cold! He slept straight for almost 2 days before I decided enough is enough and I needed to get him some antibiotics to get rid of it. I tried to wake him up on the afternoon and he wouldn't move, I was picking up his head shaking his body where he lay and he didn't budge, I thought we had lost him! when he let out the faintest little meow and opened his eyes! The relief! That afternoon I managed to get the vet to prescribe some antibiotic tablets which turned out to be a nightmare to give to him, he wouldn't take it straight in his mouth because his mouth was sore, but he was barely eating anything because he couldn't smell and was bunged up! So off to the vets we went again. He was given a long lasting antibiotic an some bisolven to put in his food once he has started eating again to clear up the mucus! It worked, and he was back on the road to recovery! Apart from his mouth... It was obviously causing pain so I took him in and low and behold the right side of his mouth was red and inflamed, and the left side was a nice healthy pink colour which had healed nicely. The vet decided that the stitches were causing more harm than good so he cut them out. A week later the right side of his mouth was becoming a nice healthy pink colour and was healing nicely!
Its over a month later and he is doing so well, he's back onto normal wet food from pate and is also managing dry food perfectly! So proud of him! I think hes just so glad that he is pain free and can eat without pain too. He's got a bit round!
